Regenerating the Body's Field with the Lorentz Force Generator

by Rick Andersen, 1/6/98

In electromagnetic wave theory, we often speak of the two component fields which make up the wave as if they are all that the wave is composed of--- the electric field and the magnetic field. Actually, they combine in such a way (vector multiplication) as to create a third field vector, the Poynting vector, which "points" longitudinally in the direction of wave propagation. The E and B fields, according to standard theory, are oriented at right-angles to the axis of propagation and to each other. (Fig. 1) Thus, for a vertically polarized wave, the E-field "goes up and down" while the B-field "goes back and forth", while the Poynting vector, which represents the energy of the wave per unit area, "spurts" on and off in the direction of travel, much like a sound wave does in air. (This call for the tentative recognition of the Poynting vector as a longitudinal pulsation in its own right may be relevant to the antagonistic position taken by Tom Bearden toward the rest of the electromagnetic theorists and engineers; Bearden sides with Tesla in insisting that EM waves are longitudinal/compression waves, and that our textbooks have been wrongly teaching transverse "string" waves since Maxwell.)

Shifting our focus to lower-frequency (or DC) fields and their effects on charged particles, we note that crossing electric and magnetic fields at right-angles produces the Lorentz force which tends to cause motion of charged particles in a plane corresponding to the Poynting vector of EM wave theory. What is not often realized is that the Poynting equation holds, no matter how small a time increment is involved; this fact, given in Physics texts, inplies that even a static arrangement of magnets inside charged capacitor plates, ought to produce a small "static" Poynting vector or Lorentz force. (Fig. 2) Bearden speculates that the crossed fields of the earth (the magnetic lines running N and S, and the electric lines running vertically from earth's surface to the ionosphere) create a constant West-to-East "Poynting" energy which, though subtle, influences planetary and living processes.

A "fluid" demonstration of Lorentz force, said by some to be the "secret" to exotic forms of propulsion, can be seen by filling a cylindrical metal can with water (to which a small amount of acid has been added to enhance conduction of electricity), connecting that can to a negative battery terminal, and inserting a positive-connected, rod-shaped terminal into the center of the water in the can (without shorting out the two terminals). This cylindrical capacitor, filled with liquid electrolyte, is then placed within the field of a stack of ring magnets. Fig. 3.

The result is that the water begins to bubble and churn in a spiralling vortex, the direction depending on the relative polarities of the crossed fields.

I have applied these principles to a sensitive amplifier/feedback arrangement called the Lorentz Force Generator.

The Lorentz Force Generator is an experimental circuit which I conceived and built which uses the well-known right-angle vectorial relationship between electric and magnetic fields to reinforce the local fields around a biological target subject situated within the device. For example, a subject positioned within the sensing compartment will generate a modulated electric field surrounding that subject-- which is the conglomerate of natural body potentials and pulsations which represent the electromagnetic component of the subject's "aura".

The sensing compartment is essentially a grounded Faraday cage, which also acts as the grounded plate of a large capacitor, serving to block out the ever-present 60 Hz hum from the power lines which would otherwise saturate the amplifier to which the "sensor" plate is connected. The subject is placed upon the sensor plate. The plate is connected to the input of a very sensitive amplifier, such as the inverting input of a "Hodowanec Detector" (known in alt-sci circles as a possible amplifier of 'gravity waves') or a high gain, high input impedance transistor amplifier.

The output of such an amplifier is a highly-amplified mix of 1/f "white" noise and modulations induced by any changes or pulsations of charge in or on the sense capacitor's dielectric-- which in this case is the subject it/him/her -self, radiating an attendant electric field which contains modulations representing physiological processes taking place within the body. In short, the subject is in effect capacitively connected to an EMG or EKG-type amplifier having a frequency response from DC to roughly the top of the audio spectrum, depending on the amplifier's rolloff characteristics [wideband op amps would probably be preferred].

The output of this voltage amplifier is then power amplified and made to drive a solenoidal- or Helmholtz-type coil arrangement which is oriented axially, i.e., at right-angles to the radial electric field, generated by the subject with respect to the grounded Faraday cage which surrounds the subject. Thus, every variation in the subject's natural radial electric field is highly amplified, then "re-broadcast" back into the subject as a correspondingly-modulated magnetic field, at right angles to the original electric field. Of course, a varying magnetic field gives rise to an induced varying electrical field and current in a conductor (the subject)-- and so a "regenerative" effect occurs just as in the old radio sets of the 1930's: A weak signal is picked up, amplified, and fed back to the input, in phase with the input, to give what is known as regeneration or positive feedback. The overall effect will be to "boost" or regenerate the body's own natural electric fields and modulations, presumably strengthening and organizing these fields, which is believed by some to be the key to "rejuvenating"
body processes.

Lorentz Force or Poynting Vector is the vector product of the E and B fields

Here is where the Lorentz force is generated. Similar to the Poynting Vector in Hertzian electromagnetic wave theory, the Lorentz force develops in/on a charged object (such as an electron) whenever there's a combination of external electric and magnetic fields, and when those fields are orthogonal (right-angled, perpendicular) to one another. The Lorentz force appears in the third direction, orthogonal to both of the other fields, and represents the vector product of those fields-- i.e., the total energy or energy/time (power) per unit area.

Note the direction(s) in which this third force vector manifests: Since the electric field lines radiate outward from the subject to the surrounding cylindrical cage, the E-field can be visualized as a set of radially-directed "bicycle spokes" coming out of the subject in all horizontal directions from the subject to the Faraday cage.

The amplified replica magnetic field, generated by the output amplifier coils, develops in the vertical plane, stretching from top to bottom of the coil arrangement, with the subject parallel to and positioned within their influence.

The third vector (Lorentz/Poynting force), then, must appear at right angles to both the electric and magnetic vectors, at all points around the perimeter of the subject; and so it manifests as a circular orbit of force around the subject, with a preferred direction, similar to a rotating energy field or vortex. The direction of this circular Lorentz force can be switched between clockwise and counter-clockwise simply by reversing the polarity (or physical connections to coils) of the amplified signal driving the coils. A "North" pole at the top, with a "South" at bottom, will cause the Lorentz force to circle counter-clockwise, and S-N clockwise.

In actual use, of course, the magnitude of the subject's electric "aura" field will be small, it will be modulated by many frequencies across the spectrum, it will be mixed with amplifier noise, and it may even exhibit momentary reversals of polarity. In spite of all these variables, the small Lorentz "force field" will continue to circle the subject in one direction only-- because any polarity reversal in the electric field causes a corresponding reversal in the amplified/injected magnetic field, and reversing the sign of both fields produces the same direction in the third vector as was the case before they were reversed. Only when one of the fields is reversed, can the Poynting vector "point" the other way. But since the magnetic field is an amplified version of the electric field, they must always reverse simultaneously, if at all. Thus, like pumping a child's toy top, any "wiggle" in the fields gives the Poynting vector a "push" in the same direction. A small-scale, personal "whirlwind".

In the proper rotational direction and strength, the Lorentz "regeneration" field should have the overall effect of "recharging", reinforcing, or realigning the force fields of the body in a way that may be related to the effects that are reported to occur when certain Yoga-like "spinning to the right" exercises are performed over a period of time.

Other possibilities would be to record the amplified coil driver signal on tape for future use; modulate it onto a radio carrier for transmission to another location; do a Fourier analysis for spectrum characterization, etc., for studies on the internal content of the body's modulated "auric" field and possible applications of this informational content. There is much experimental work to be done in these areas.

The similarity of this arrangement to a regenerative radio receiver does bring up an issue that will need to be addressed: A slight increase in the gain or coupling within the system will cause the positive feedback to grow until the system begins to oscillate (howl), just like the microphone and PA system always did when your high school principal got up to make a speech at the podium...

Is this desirable or not?

Perhaps a good jolt of self-induced oscillation is what a body needs for re-establishing "normal" electromagnetic signature patterns after a long period of illness or degeneration. On the other hand, the "acoustics" of the system itself might tend to "drown out" the effects of the body field modulations if the system were allowed to break into continuous oscillation. It would therefore seem best to adjust the gain/feedback to a point just below the threshold of oscillation, just like we used to do with our regenerative radio sets.

Experiments & Results

The first experiment I tried when I had conceived and built this apparatus was to test its effect out on two of my fading Aloe Vera plants. Both were victims of being in the same room, same potting soil, etc., too long, and they were losing their bright green color to a sort of olive-brownish hue. Some smaller specimens sharing the same pots eventually got a kind of "jelly"-like, translucent look about them, and soon died. Moving the survivors to a sunny window temporarily only seemed to make matters worse, as they too began to turn "olive" and get translucent-looking.

One at a time, I tested them inside a small Lorentz "regenerator" consisting of a Tupperware container wrapped with coils and covered with aluminum foil (grounded shield). For the "sense" plate I substituted a copper wire which I stuck into the moistened potting soil, so that the plant and soil were connected electrically to the amplifier input, but contained within (and physically isolated from) the grounded enclosure.

With headphones temporarily connected across the amplifier output, I carefully adjusted the amp gain until I heard a soft hissing noise, but backed the gain just off from the point of oscillation (a loud howling in the headphones). I powered the amp with a 12v hobbyist gel-cell with a 13.8v regulated power supply in parallel with the battery. Removing the headphones, I then left the whole setup alone for a week.

At the end of that time, I opened the grounded foil covering (which had kept the plant in darkness for 7 days) and was delighted to see that the plant had regained most of its former bright green color and lost the translucent olive color that it had had before the "treatment". The same result occurred with the second plant, which was in a different pot. At this writing two weeks later, both plants still look bright and "new" and have begun to grow again, where they had "stalled" before the treatment.

Since you're taking my word on this, all I can do now is encourage you to build this circuit and try a similar experiment for yourself. That's what matters-- your results. Maybe sick or aging animals-- or humans-- could benefit from taking a regenerative "bath" in their own, reinforced electromagnetic "aura" fields. Remember, research since the 1960's has shown that only a weak field is needed to profoundly affect processes within living organisms, under proper conditions. You might need a "Philadelphia Experiment"-sized field to warp spacetime and compete with Scotty's transporter, but to stay healthy apparently takes only microwatts of power, as long as the information field contains the proper patterns conducive to the reinforcement of the patterns of energy making up the body.
